Bossk
Migration
Menhir
Vocals
The original sounds at the start made me wonder what I was listening to.
But then hearing Johannes' voice come in here, made me realize how much I appreciate it. It is notably him. If you stand out among the many vocalists, this is a good thing!
I don't know what this band normally sounds like, vocally.
Music
I feel certain movements in music, and this one has a defined hit that moves along well with the vocals. The instruments move along together as a unit nicely. Works for me.
Lyrics
Apparently, a menhir is a stone placed in an upright position, often with something written on it. I really don't know my stones very well, but apparently, in some places, they led to a tomb surrounded by more strategically-placed stones, sometimes underground. Quite interesting to look at. A lot of effort is put into this, so it signifies great importance.
I think this song is talking about the writing on one of these stones. It makes me think of someone looking back on their history or ancestry and thinking of those from the past. They might wish they could have experienced it.
The weight of its words is imminent
Fading songs of a lost tongue
Time echoes from this monument
Past voices become clear
Shadows of the stone
Lights up a path
A guide to the beyond
Its message revealed
It speaks to me
Calling me home
The line about lost tongues makes me think of some of the cultures that have had their way of living, their language taken away, and looked down on. So very wrong!
