She is hitting the notes, growling, singing, but it isn't reaching me.

Music

I find a lot of the style of the music adds to the sense of cheerfulness this song brings. It is too upbeat for me (I am not that much of a downer, I swear). No doubt they are good musicians.

Lyrics

It is weird to me that these lyrics are not about climbing the highest peak or excelling at something. They are actually about your own part in the mess you can be in in life. It is taking responsibility for wanting things to be different but somehow staying where you are.
