Make Them Suffer
Worlds Apart
Save Yourself
Vocals
The starting vocal was alright for the style. I didn't like how it progressed, nor the woman's voice that came in. But I understand that the use of the woman's and man's voice is very thought out. It is showcasing the interaction of two people in a relationship. I actually think that the use of the yelling/talking voice near the end made a lot of sense because he is getting more adamant in what he says.
Music
From the start, the music didn't sound like something I am really into, almost weirdly upbeat. I didn't mind the guitar riff half-way through. I enjoyed the sad piano at the end.
Lyrics
This is sad. It is a tale of a man that has realized he is abusive. He is trying to do the right thing and stop the abuse. He can't trust himself to not contnue the abuse, so he needs to end the relationship. The woman is somehow unsure if she should leave.
But through it all, you managed, I left you bruised and battered
Took you for granted, took advantage and vanished
And you'd think that just for once in my life
I'd take a step back and maybe consider what's on your mind but no
You're the strongest person I know
At least I can assure you I'm afraid of my reflection
These two lines upset me because they come off as being helpful, but they could actually enable the woman to stay, to prove how strong she is.
It's toxic, it's noxious, ironically honest
Get out tonight, don't say farewell
Run for your life, go save yourself
It's twisted, it's bitter, it's sickly sweet
Get out alive, while there's still time
And don't you dare even consider a "next time"
