Mantar
Pain is Forever and this is the End
Odysseus
Vocals
I really think this vocal is great, the way it is drawn out and rough, and, once in a while, it is emphasized with some extra fry. I can't imagine it presented in a different style.
Music
I like the drawn out parts in the music, mixed with quicker catchy parts. It is cool this is only two guys. I think if it resembles grunge of today and doesn't turn me off, they must be doing something right. It is memorable.
Lyrics
With the name of this song, it is obviously associated with a mythological god of this name. It seems he was known to be very intelligent and crafty. He was seen as having only human strength, but using his brain in many situations. I am not sure at all how this is associated with this song. Maybe it is realizing you have limits here, and struggling in ways you wish you felt more equipped. Maybe the talk of pretending to sleep in the lyrics, is referring to the fact that Odysseus was known to fight against sleep? For me personally, it makes me think of wanting to escape from something.
Every time I close my eyes
There's a bad moon on the rise
And I know I want to ride
I didn't choose to be a ghost
Kill the lights, kill the amp, kill the god, I'm just a man
Going down into the sea
I just pretend to be asleep
I close my eyes and sail away
I will never find my way
