My Dying Bride
The Dreadful Hours
The Return To The Beautiful
I know there is no excuse for it, but I don't know much of this band. This song sounds very different than the other song I have heard by them.
Vocals
I like this growly vocal. I feel like he stands out as him. The laughing, I can do without!
Music
I looked at the length of this and wondered, will it keep my attention? Just over 5 minutes in, I like the riff and drum combo. I have to say, this wasn't a straightforward, one-riff kinda song. They went to different places, atmospherically, and even pace-wise. They seem to change the song up every few minutes. The change at the 10-minute mark felt like such a shift from beauty to despair. The noises in the background emphasized the turn to something more sinister. Then it quickened up, and I like the tempo right after the spoken words. More than I expected from this song. The ending makes me think of Twin Peaks (which I finally watched this past year). They potentially have something that could make it to my playlist.
Lyrics
Lyrically, this surprised me. It went from talking about the beauty of the earth, and almost sounding like being sexually attracted to it, to talking about women's beauty. It became kinda creepy, in a sense. lol. I am not sure if he wants to kill or screw someone, or what. I can't say I can identify with this dialogue, though I do think the earth is quite beautiful, and being in the woods is a favourite place for me.
Oh beautiful earth
For too long you have been silent
Touch me once again
The dark ground lies cold
Et gelidus hoc voluntas firmamentum
A tragic opus
Immeasurable loss
Tearful I rest
Bask in my growing sorrow
The females is such exquisite hell
Lay my obscure hands upon you
Macabre, erotica, passion
Even in death, beauty is with you
