Vocals

I think I would have liked this vocal more when I was younger. It is reminiscent of Maria Brink, but not as good, when it is high. The low growl feels lacklustre. The singing feels odd, being so low, contrasted with the rest of the vocals. It feels more extreme, overall, than the music.

Music

The music just pales against the energy of the vocal. It is fine, just nothing too exciting. I can't find a standout in it.

Lyrics

Seems to be a recognition of living a life that is full of fear and stress. The person now wants to be more assertive in finding something worthwhile. The part about surrendering to luxuries I think speaks of hoping that some "thing" will make you feel better. That you will be able to control it. In this case, being welcomed to the gallows doesn't seem like a good end goal. Makes me think of the saying "You can't buy happiness".
